We picked up a new investigator and I’m excited to continue teaching him. His wife died about 2 months ago and she was a member. He had promised her that he would take the steps necessary to get sealed to her and we’ve known about this for about a month and a half. The stars finally aligned though and we were able to meet with him. We were able to get a better feel for his religious background and his expectations for meeting with us. We were also able to begin teaching him the restoration as well as parts of the Plan of Salvation mixed in. He is really sincere and I’m excited to continue getting to know him and helping him come closer to Christ!
We also got to have dinner with a less active couple that were way sweet! The husband is SUPER into hunting! He took us up to his “trophy” room after dinner and it was unreal! There were mounts and antlers all over the walls and he had a badger pelt and coyote pelt hanging on the wall and an elk’s head and just a ton of other stuff! He really has a passion for hunting! It gave me so many flashbacks of living in Sanpete and how there’s so many people that eat, sleep and live hunting! Anyways, after showing us that stuff for a while and us having some good conversation, he went into telling us about his whole conversion story and his path towards becoming active again. He shared a lot of spiritual experiences and I was so grateful for the opportunity. I’ve really gained an appreciation for the opportunity to be a missionary because of the amount of the Spirit that you’re able to be surrounded by. People seem to open up after a trust and common ground is gained and you really get to become a part of their lives and get to learn so much! I love it!
Things on the home front sound great! I’m glad that Jess had such a good date and I didn’t know that she wanted to become a nurse? Since when? Growing up, I always just thought that she was going to find an occupation that dealt with horses! I remember the countless pictures she would aquire and put on posters or around her room or on her school supplies! haha I guess everyone has strayed a bit from what they seemed to be headed for as kids. Because technically Travis should be a professional hunter wearing his old gross camo hat that has a crack in the bill, Jessie should be racing barrels in rodeos, Austen should be detailing or selling cars and I should be the owner of a candy store and have invented a basketball court with a see through floor that has lava lamp liquid and wax moving throughout it….I’m pretty sure that my career is still headed in that direction but everyone else is kind of out of the running for their child hood aspirations:)
Keep giving me updates on Aust and football and everyone else please!
Oh yeah! I’m staying in this area another transfer! that’ll be 7 and a half months here! So crazy! I love it though! Things are still going well with teaching Deanna and Tara! Tara still is hoping that you can get meat up here in the next 3 weeks so that we can eat some with her boyfriend!haha And we taught Deanna this week about Faith and how to recognize and seek answers for that spiritual witness that she’s looking for and it went really well! We meet with her again this week!
